Electromechanical Models and Finite Elements

Our group has a long track record in coupled electromechanical mechanics for laminated composites with piezoelectric actuators and sensors. Layerwise theories describe the displacement and electric potential fields through the thickness. This captures both global and local electromechanical response, including thermal effects. Current work extends this to multiresolution wavelet-based and spline-based formulations.
