Biography

Currently a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras, Greece (1999-present), where he teaches courses in Structural Analysis, Finite Elements, Structural Dynamics, and Composite Mechanics. He heads the research group of Structural Mechanics and Smart Materials. Prior to joining the University of Patras, he worked for 10 years as a Researcher with the Structures Division at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio (1988–1999).

He has received research support from national programs, the European Union (FP5, FP6, FP7, Horizon), and international sources (NASA, NSF) for projects in aeronautics, aerospace, and wind energy. He serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Wind Energy and Aerospace Science and Technology, is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, a member of the AIAA Adaptive Structures Committee, and a member of scientific committees for international conferences including the Adaptive Structures Conference, EWSHM, and ICAST.
